How to take a screenshot on iPhone

A screenshot saves a picture of whatever is on your screen — like a suspicious text or email — so you can send it to ScamProtector and get a clear answer.

iPhones work a little differently depending on the model. Start with the steps below. If your iPhone has a round Home button at the bottom, see the tip after the steps.

  1. Open what you want to capture

Go to the text message, email, or web page you're worried about, so it is showing on your screen.

  2. Press two buttons at the same time

Quickly press — and then let go of — the Side button on the right edge and the Volume Up button on the left edge, both at the same moment.

  3. Watch for the flash

The screen flashes white and you may hear a camera-click sound. A small picture of your screen appears for a moment in the bottom-left corner.

  4. Find your screenshot

Open the Photos app, tap Albums, then open the Screenshots album. Your picture is saved there.

  5. Send it to ScamProtector

Open the screenshot, tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up), and send the picture by text message to ScamProtector.

Have an older iPhone with a Home button? On the iPhone SE, iPhone 8, and earlier models, press the Home button and the Side (or Top) button at the same time instead.
Buttons hard to press? You can add an on-screen button that takes screenshots for you. Open Settings → Accessibility → Touch → AssistiveTouch and turn it on. You can then tap that button to take a screenshot without pressing the side buttons.
